
Author James A. Martin was raised on a dairy farm in southern Michigan. He joined the Eaton County Sheriff Department in Charlotte Michigan in July 1974. In 1999 James A. Martin retired from the Sheriff Department to begin work as an Independent Contractor. James signed a contract with an American company. That contract took James Martin to East Timor where he worked with the United Nations for five years.
Upon completion of the East Timor mission James returned to the United States for a few months before signing a contract with a different American company. The following three years Martin served three tours of duty in Iraq. James is currently serving as an instructor teaching others to go to war and do what he has done in his past.
Author James A. Martin has three books in print. His latest is Guns for Hire, Red Zone Run: Mosul, which is a fictional story about a personal security officer stationed in Iraq. This is the first book in the Guns for Hire series. James A. Martin's first book was Shades of Gray. He also wrote Code-Name: White Buffalo, which describe experiences in Timor. Author James A. Martin is currently working on his next book in the Guns for Hire series.

A private security company, SPARO, is responsible to create Personal Security Teams in Mosul, Iraq. To fill the positions on those teams, SPARO turns to professional soldiers who have the warrior skills needed to handle the dangerous runs that they will make into the enemy-filled Red Zone.
SPARO's new teams, designated as "Spartans", find themselves in life-threatening challenges every time they roll through the gates of the Forward Operations Base and into the Red Zone. The Spartans are in a constant struggle to out think, out maneuver and out fight the enemy on a daily basis.
The story focuses on one Spartan in particular, Jesse. Jesse left his foreign wife, Rini, and their son, Ronny, in Hawaii to go on this mission to Mosul. As Jesse deals with the stress of war and running on dangerous missions with the Spartans, his wife and son deal with the challenges of living in a foreign country. The extreme cultural differences, language barriers and being alone take their toll on the young and beautiful Rini. She struggles to learn the American way of life while at the same time living in fear that her Jesse may never come home.
